My professional career started out as an aerospace engineer. At the time of my graduation, the aerospace industry was on a downturn and jobs were hard to come by. My impulsive nature drove me to pursue a career in medicine knowing that jobs were in demand and ubiquitous. However my decision, in retrospect, was really all about the caring—caring for my brothers and sisters.
As the years passed me by, I proceeded in my father’s footsteps serving as a reservist physician in the Army Medical Corps. I felt obligated to give back to my country which had given me so much. Now, as an American Legion Commander, I feel privileged to serve again in an all-out faith-based American Legion post.
After 22 years serving as an emergency department physician, caring for some of the sickest of the sick and their families, I feel a spiritual calling that takes me way beyond the sliding doors of the ER. As a diagnostician, as a husband and father, as a Christian disciple, I feel driven to help people of this great nation and world fight the suffocating cloak of negativity fueled by misguided ethical / moral beliefs, failing and corrupt leadership, and biased media coverage of current events adversely impacting a person’s mind, body, and spirit. Let us rebuild a world emphasizing goodwill, charity, and compassion–a light in the darkness.
