It’s my pleasure to promote another theatrical production–Bye Bye Birdie.
All Doug Dunaway Post 790 members have been invited to the show by our very own Elisha Kenniv who we were proud to sponsor for this years Buckeye Girls State. We are super excited to help maintain our connection with Elisha and help promote the arts.
“Rockin” back to the 1950’s, this Broadway classic is reminiscent of small-town America. Bye Bye Birdie reflects the superstar craze of musical idols with Conrad Birdie being every teen girl’s dream as he creates a little hysteria and relationship tension during his visit to Sweet Apple, Ohio.
The story encompasses Birdie’s recent draft to the U.S. Army impacting his personal song writer, Albert; his highly anticipated new song to be performed on The Ed Sullivan Show; and a special kiss to one lucky girl.
Bye Bye Birdie revolves around many personal relationships that help drive the story home. For those old enough, we fondly remember small-town America, the musical hysteria reminiscent of the “Elvis years” and the craze of teen fan clubs from years gone by. For those who weren’t around, you get a glimpse of the past and a taste of the early years of “rock and roll” mania.
Come join Elisha and the other Inspiring Arts performers as they retell the story of Bye Bye Birdie in their own special way.
Bye Bye Birdie will be performed in Hamilton at Miami University’s Parrish Auditorium on the following dates:
