ANAVICUS

ANAVICUS (Army, Navy, Air Force Veterans in Canada–United States)

This group of scholarships serves to commemorate past distinguished ANAVICUS members. ANAVICUS is a unit of ANAVETS — the Canadian veterans organization founded in 1840. The United States charter was presented in 1953. ANAVICUS membership is by invitation only.

This group of youth scholarships includes:

Frank R. Kossa Memorial ANAVICUS Scholarship

It is a merit-based scholarship presented to an outstanding student at the Royal Military College in Kingston, Ontario, Canada for exceptional academic performance and leadership potential.

Father Edward J. Carney Scholarship

It is a needs-based $1500 scholarship awarded to a sophomore or junior student in Merrimack College, North Andover, Mass. who has maintained a minimum 3.0 GPA and demonstrates leadership potential.

Reverend Frank L. Harrington Scholarship

It is a needs-based $1500 scholarship awarded to a sophomore or junior student in Carroll College in Helena, Mont. who has maintained a minimum 3.0 GPA and demonstrates leadership potential.

General Lewis B. Hershey Scholarship

It is a needs-based $1500 scholarship awarded to a sophomore or junior student in Trine University in Angola, Ind. who has maintained a minimum 3.0 GPA and demonstrates leadership potential.

James F. O’Neil Scholarship

It is a needs-based $1500 scholarship awarded to a sophomore or junior student in Saint Anselm College in Manchester, N.H. who has maintained a minimum 3.0 GPA and demonstrates leadership potential.

General Frank R. Schwengel Scholarship

It is a needs-based $1500 scholarship awarded to a sophomore or junior student at Iona College in New Rochelle, N.Y. who has maintained a minimum 3.0 GPA and demonstrates leadership potential.

E. Roy Stone, Jr. ROTC Scholarship

It is a $1500 scholarship awarded to a worthy and deserving full time student at Furman University in Greenville, S.C.

Richard M. Pedro Memorial Scholarship

It is a needs-based $1500 scholarship awarded to a ROTC student who has maintained a minimum 3.0 GPA.

Judge Daniel F. Foley Scholarship

It is a $1500 scholarship awarded to a student who is a direct descendant of a member or deceased member of the Army, Navy, & Air Force Veterans in Canada (ANAVETS).

Rev. Jerome D. Fortenberry Scholarship

It is a $1500 scholarship awarded to living and current ANAVICUS members’ direct descendants (child, grandchild, great-grandchild). The student must be a high school senior or enrolled in an accredited college or vocational school.
